Dramatically Unphotogenic

Benedict XVI scaring children
“Upper Italy” was considering putting up an image of a Christmas tree or something else suitably seasonable, but then we thought: Can we ignore the Pope in a special moment like this? Can we just forget that, in Christianity, all roads lead to Rome? And what about Midnight Mass in the Vatican?
Besides, we had this heartwarming snap of the dramatically unphotogenic Pope Benedict XVI about to cuddle with dusky Third World children, or perhaps dine on them.
The “straight” BBC note on the event can be found (here). There’s not much to it. In essence, the Pontifex Max said the infant Jesus directed our gaze towards all children who suffer. By way of illustrating the point, he then caused a few to suffer right there on the spot.
Merry Christmas and, more in general, Buon Feste to all our readers.
