Who You Are Once Again

An English flat mirror
We haven’t indulged in this exercise for a while, and it’s easier than working. “Upper Italy” continues, as is appropriate, to be a “product ” for an eilte. It looks like we have about 350-400 very faithful readers and then a certain number of people who stumble in accidentally by way of the search engines. These last seem to be mostly looking for information about Italian women and their sexual practices, something we have in fact touched on – (here) and (here).
Though you regulars come from everywhere – from 75 different countries in fact – a substantial majority are from just three nations: the United States, Italy and Japan. That is about as expected, at least by now. We last looked at this – (here) – about thirteen months ago.
The list continues to show a strong interest from Moslem countries – four of the top ten. If this number appears to have backed off, that is only because growth coming from Canada and the UK has pushed these places further down in the ranking. Turkey, Iran, Bahrain and Indonesia all appear in the top twenty, as do India and China.
We fail utterly to understand why we are so heavily read in Singapore (#5), though of course we are pleased by this. Our theory is that a highly efficient Singapore-based finishing school for would-be waiters in Chinese restaurants located in Italy is forcing its students to study our pages.
Beyond the Italians – a predictable result – Canadian readers spend on average the most time on the site, while the Iranians, strangely, read the most pages per visit – about three and a third, or ten comments. This seems to show more patience that we have – possibly something to do with the Persian tradition of Zoroastrianism? (That is a joke.)
As for you American readers, we are still showing an inexplicable concentration of visits from Illinois, more than twice the number of those from California, the next most interested state. California we understand; a lot of people live there; but the Illinois visits are a puzzle. Possibly another catering school, preparing Italo-American waiters for restaurants in Singapore?
At any rate, we are grateful to all of you, especially to our unlikely fans in the American Midwest and in Southeast Asia…
Here is what the top ten looks like:
1/2—The United States and Italy, essentially tied for first place
3—Japan
4—United Kingdom
5—Singapore
6—Canada
7—Saudi Arabia
9—Egypt
9—United Arab Emirates
10—Germany
The French, by the way, pretty much continue to not give a damn about their neighboring country. Both the Swiss and the Slovenes care more. Maybe it’s just a language problem…
