Lookalikes

Only a coincidence?
This obviously has nothing to do with anything at all, but “Upper Italy,” always up for general culture, believes you should be made aware of the startling discovery reported by the British magazine “Private Eye,” (here).
The two snaps above are, respectively, of the face of the Statue of Liberty under construction in 1885 and of a successful popular singer of the 1950’s named Elvis Presley, whose cover of Big Mama Thornton’s “You Ain’t Nothin’ But A Hound Dog” once topped the pop charts.
We are, of course, hardly able to distinguish between the two. Private Eye, after briefly considering the possibility that they may in fact be one and the same, suggests that the marked similarity could be taken as evidence of early attempts at cloning.
